Abdul Muin Daeng Mile is a Makassarese drum master. He is widely acknowledged to be one of the very best Makassarese drummers in lowland South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Mile defines himself more specifically as a seniman, meaning a traditional artist in Indonesia. Mile usually plays music with his group for weddings, circumcisions, and other ritual events. His particular drum music called Ganrang which is usually accompanied with Makassarese traditional dance called Pakarena.The music is played for the ritual purification of persons and objects, for building a house, launching a ship, cleansing a house in which someone has recently died, and also for festive and commemorative situations.
