Cantos, Ritos y Fiestas Populares

Under the title and question Decolonising Listening, Tsonami Arte Sonoro organised an online seminar, a series of radio concerts broadcast through radiotsonami.org, and the release and publication of this album.

All the recordings belong to the “rites and celebrations” category on the Audiomapa platform. The selection includes Shipibo songs, sikuri ensembles, Haitian funeral bands, women prayer singers from Chiloé and church choirs from the Amazon, among other compelling recordings.

The contributors to this publication are Felix Blume, Rodrigo Rios Zunino, Fernando Godoy, Sergio Henríquez M. and Adolfo Vergara.

MUCAM (Museo Campesino en Movimiento) was also specially invited to participate. The organisation has carried out important research and documentation of traditional cultural practices in Chile. The MUCAM contributions include recordings by Daniel González and Jessica Bruna.
