From noon until midnight on Sunday, 12 April 2020 (Easter Sunday), we will broadcast live a remix of the sound archive of proclamations from Holy Week in Seville. Speaking from positions of power, these voices announce the arrival of the city’s most heavily attended liturgy. The Holy Week proclamation is a sonic artefact that Los Voluble use emphatically in our mixes. We now propose a different form of listening: live and without images. Peace and goodwill to all.
During the State of Alarm, amid all the debate surrounding the approaching crisis, we hope that digital culture will not become merely a gift handed over to platforms. This is a moment to consider how to remunerate the work of everyone dedicated to this field. Because today’s action is special and different, the funds raised through this form of “pay-what-you-can admission” or donation will go directly to the campaign organised by Anusci Nuevos Ciudadanos por la Interculturalidad. We have worked with this association on previous occasions. It supports migrant seasonal workers living in informal settlements in Huelva.
