Luciferis

Two long pieces recorded at home in the mountains in December 2020, described by Karen Jebane as the dark double of her Nona, Decima et Morta and as the first act of a trilogy completed by canto XXXIV and Satan. There is no voice on the record: Jebane’s drone box is set against guitars composed and played by Thomas Bel. The titles, Cadere and Luceat, name a falling and a rising, and the work takes its images from Gustave Doré’s engravings of the fall of Lucifer, a figure Jebane reads across Dante, Milton and Blake.
